To guarantee the durability of the pants, it is important to preserve these technical properties. That is why maintenance is an important step for its durability: the choix of detergents, he washing program and the drying method are all elements that will contribute to maintaining these technical properties.

First of all we recommend you to wash your breeches only when necessary. So, if you simply want to remove the odors present on your riding pants we advise you to use our deodorizer for technical sportswear : Apparel Refresh. This product has been thought and developed by our team to eliminate the bad odors present on the clothes to leave a fresh smell.

However, after a few uses, you will have to wash your pants. To maintain at best your riding pants, several advices and tricks exist. Here are the essential recommendations to maintain your riding pants and extend its life.

STEP 1: THE LABEL DESCRIPTION, ESSENTIAL TO PROLONG THE LIFE OF YOUR RIDING PANTS

In general, we invite you to refer to the labels present inside the clothes during the maintenance of your riding clothes. You will find on it all the information of cleaning and the precautions to take to maintain them.

For the pants, you will find details on their composition, mainly polyamide and elastane, and the washing advice to adopt.

It is important to refer to these instructions to preserve all the technical properties of your pants and thus extend its life. If you don't understand all the meaning of these labels, here are some explanations that should help you.

STEP 2: A GENTLE WASH THAT RESPECTS THE TECHNICAL PROPERTIES OF YOUR PANTS

SOME PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE TO MAINTAIN YOUR RIDING PANTS

Even before choosing the program to wash your riding pants, some precautions are to be taken. Take care to empty the pockets, to close the zippers and the VELCRO®. That will avoid that these parts come to cling to the other parts of the clothing at the risk of damaging them. Finally, be sure to turn the pants to preserve its pigments and especially if it is colored.

In order to avoid discoloration, we suggest that you choose clothes of similar color.

Finally, as they do not have the same materials and technical properties, street clothes and sportswear should be separated. However, if it is impossible for you to separate them, you can put your riding pants in a net like the Guppyfriend® Washing bag. In addition to protecting your pants, it will filter out small microfibers released by the textiles during washing. By reducing the loss of fibers, it helps to extend the life of the clothes.

WHICH DETERGENT TO CHOOSE TO WASH MY RIDING PANTS ?

A too aggressive detergent could damage the textile fiber of your pants. For this reason, we recommend the use of a soft or organic detergent that preserves the technical properties of the pants.

For example, you can use our apparel wash, which was developed for the regular care of all your riding clothes without damaging their quality. In addition to preserving all the technical properties of the garment, its dosage is carefully calculated to remove superficial stains without damaging the material.

Finally, we strongly advise against the use of fabric softener which could deteriorate the fabric of your riding pants. Firstly, the garment will lose breathability and therefore efficiency of absorption of perspiration. Then, these products could come to unstick the technical details such as the grips.

Finally, opt for a gentle program at a maximum of 30°C/ 86°Fthat will respect your riding pants!

STEP 3: THE KEYS TO GETTING RID OF A PERSISTENT STAIN!

As a reminder, the apparel wash, our detergent developed for the regular maintenance of your riding clothes, removes superficial stains.

For more stubborn stains such as grease, grass, all types of sauces, we quickly provide you with a cloth soaked in very hot water. With it, you can gently rub the stain to remove the first layers or even eradicate it completely.

However, be careful with blood, which should be removed with cold water to avoid the risk of the stain becoming more deeply ingrained when it comes into contact with the heat, which will "cook" it.

If however, you realize too late that your pants are stained, use a stain remover adapted to the type of stain which you will be able to find in supermarkets. In order not to damage the fiber, be sure to gently dab the stain rather than rub. Leave the product to act for the time recommended on the bottle, making sure not to exceed it.

You can now start the washing machine, always choosing a suitable detergent such as our apparel wash and a gentle program.

STEP 4: LET YOUR PANTS AIR DRY AND AVOID IRONING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE

For drying, avoid the tumble dryer and prefer a softer method with air drying. To dry clothes, the tumble dryer uses high temperatures that could deteriorate the fabric of your pants. In fact, it is not uncommon to find fibers of your clothes that have become detached during the drying cycle when cleaning the dryer filter.

HOW TO IRON YOUR RIDING PANTS ?

Ironing is not a useful step in the maintenance of your riding pants. However, if you wish, you can iron them by turning them inside out to avoid damaging the fabric and technical details such as the grips. When ironing, to avoid direct contact with the technical areas with a hot iron: add a cloth between the iron and the pants. This will reduce the risk of damaging these fragile parts.

By taking this precautionary approach, you will preserve the technical properties of your riding pants and you will considerably extend their life. If despite these advices, you don't manage, contact us via our form or directly by phone : +33 4 99 54 63 52
