The school of rigor with Anne Louise Bertagne

Anne-Louise Bertagne: between rigor and passionThe school of rigor with Anne Louise Bertagne

For Anne-Louise Bertagne, dressage was an obvious choice. What started out as a technical challenge has become a deep passion, rooted in the search for harmony between rigor, finesse, and sensation. At 19, she has already competed in four European Championships with Vivaldi, her beloved horse, and today embodies a generation of riders who see their discipline as much more than a sport: a quest for balance, understanding, and mastery.

“Dressage is such a subtle connection with the horse that it sometimes feels like everything is done from the heart.”

A PASSION FOR DRESSAGE

For Anne-Louise, it's time to redefine the rules. Dressage is a demanding sport where every detail counts: core strength, symmetry, breathing, balance... Everything is geared towards precision. She practices it like a complete athlete: yoga, running, diet management, and physical maintenance of the horses. This comprehensive approach reveals the beauty of the discipline and highlights its high level of skill. “If I'm not symmetrical, my horse can't be either. It's a sport of precision, rigor, and beauty.”

HORSE PILOT: TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AT THE SERVICE OF DRESSAGE

Anne-Louise also expresses her connection with horses through what she wears. Her encounter with Horse Pilot was a turning point: she discovered clothing designed for performance, created to accompany every movement with fluidity, technical expertise and comfort. She never leaves home without her X-Grip breeches, with their full grip and perfect fit, which she wears every day in three different styles. The brand's understated elegance, technical precision and functional excellence are perfectly in line with her vision of dressage. ‘I had never ridden in such comfortable clothing. Everything is designed for us, for our sport.’

PASSING ON THE TRAINING

If Anne-Louise had one message to convey, it would be one of openness. Training may seem inaccessible, but with the right guidance, the right teaching methods, and the right equine partner, it becomes a fantastic space for expression and progress, even with so-called “ordinary” horses. Because ultimately, what matters is the story you write with them. “There are real sensations to be experienced, even with simple horses. You just have to dare to take the plunge and find the right path.”
