Why buy a riding jacket to ride a horse?

When the season sees its temperatures drop, a girl's horse riding coat protects riders from the risk of chills. In winter, the cold and wind rush in everywhere. The most important thing is to cover the kidneys. A waterproof jacket protects against rain. Some models go all the way down to above the riding boots for overall protection.

The thermal properties of the winter riding jacket are adapted to the outside temperature. As well as the vagaries of the climate with water repellent or windproof performance. It is also breathable to avoid sweat to the rider, even in full effort. Winter riding jacket options vary. Padded zippered pockets to warm frozen fingers. A cozy and practical hood to protect the ears. Even, reflective elements to stay visible when it gets dark.

How to choose your riding coat

Adapting to the weather when riding requires some forethought to choose your ideal riding coat. Of course, it has to keep you warm. But it should also be comfortable and not make you sweat.

A riding coat suitable for the season

A lightweight down jacket or a versatile jacket is appropriate for mid-season. These can fit under a waterproof or windproof coat. They also double up on a warm coat when winter gets really cold. A winter coat protects you from bad weather, without being thick, to preserve your mobility. The material is also important. Softshell fabric is both water and wind repellent. Fleece keeps your body warm. As well as feathers, which make up duck or goose down, combined or not with a synthetic material. The length is mostly a story of personal preference to each.

    Riding coat size guide

Choose your riding coat size just like any other jacket. Our sizes range from XS to XXL for men and XS to XL for women. Our size guide helps you find the right size for you. The idea is to have a technical jacket that fits, not too big, not too small. If you float in it or feel stuck, you can send it back to us for exchange.

How to care for a riding coat

To preserve their protective effect, functional outdoor horse riding clothes should be washed as little as possible. In case of light soiling, cleaning with a damp cloth or sponge is sufficient. When your coat requires more care, look at the label to see if it should be dry cleaned or if it can be washed with water.

Checking done, get rid of the horse hair by shaking or brushing it. Take care to close all zippers, velcro or buttons before putting it in the machine. Your softshell coat, quilted jacket or parka all prefer a gentle wash with a mild liquid detergent like ours. Set your machine to the appropriate program based on your coat type and 600 RPM.

Softener is outlawed, tumble dryer strongly avoided. The trick for your down jacket is to add one to three tennis balls in the drum. Then tap the jacket while it is air drying. This keeps the feathers from sticking together. Remember to re-waterproof your riding coat once dry.
