STEP 1: LABEL DESCRIPTIONS, ESSENTIAL FOR EXTENDING THE LIFESPAN OF YOUR RIDING BREECHES
Generally, we invite you to refer to the labels inside the garments when caring for your riding clothes. You will find all the cleaning information and precautions to take for their care.
For breeches, you will find details about their composition, mainly polyamide and elastane, and the related washing advice to follow.
It is important to refer to these instructions to preserve all the technical properties of your breeches and thus extend their lifespan. If you do not understand all the meaning of these labels, here are some explanations that should help you.
STEP 2: GENTLE WASHING THAT RESPECTS THE TECHNICAL PROPERTIES OF YOUR BREECHES
SOME PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE FOR CARING FOR YOUR RIDING BREECHES
Even before choosing the program to wash your riding breeches, certain precautions should be taken. Make sure to empty the pockets, close the zippers and VELCRO®. This will prevent these parts from catching on other parts of the garment and risking damage. Finally, make sure to turn the breeches inside out to preserve their pigments, especially if they are colored.
To avoid discoloration, we suggest choosing associated garments in similar colors.
Finally, since street clothes and sportswear do not have the same materials and technical properties, they should be separated. However, if it is impossible for you to separate them, you can put your riding breeches in a mesh bag like the Guppyfriend® Washing bag. In addition to protecting your breeches, it will filter the small microfibers released by textiles during washing. By reducing fiber loss, it helps extend the lifespan of the garments.
WHICH DETERGENT SHOULD I CHOOSE TO WASH MY RIDING BREECHES?
A detergent that is too harsh could damage the textile fiber of your breeches. For this reason, we recommend using a mild or organic detergent that preserves the technical properties of the breeches.
You can notably use our Apparel Wash detergent designed and developed for regular care of all your riding clothes without deteriorating their quality. In addition to durably preserving all the technical properties of the garment, its dosage is cleverly calculated to remove superficial stains without damaging the material.
Finally, we strongly advise against using fabric softener which could deteriorate the fabric of your riding breeches. First, the garment will lose breathability and therefore efficiency in sweat absorption. Second, these products could cause technical details such as grips to come loose.
Finally, opt for a gentle program at maximum 30°C that will respect your riding breeches!
STEP 3: THE KEYS TO REMOVING A PERSISTENT STAIN!
As a reminder, Apparel Wash, our detergent developed for regular care of your riding clothes, removes superficial stains.
For more stubborn stains such as grease, grass, all types of sauces, quickly equip yourself with a cloth soaked in very hot water. With it, you can gently rub the stain to remove the first layers or even eradicate it completely.
Be careful with blood, however, which must be removed with cold water to avoid setting the stain further when in contact with heat which will "cook" it.
If, however, you notice too late that your breeches are stained, use a stain remover suitable for the type of stain that you can find in supermarkets. To avoid damaging the fiber, make sure to gently dab the stain rather than rub. Let the product work for the time recommended on the bottle, being careful not to exceed it.
You can now start the washing machine, always choosing a suitable detergent like our Apparel Wash and a gentle program.
STEP 4: LET YOUR BREECHES AIR DRY AND AVOID IRONING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
For drying, avoid the dryer and favor a gentler method with air drying. To dry clothes, the dryer uses high temperatures that could deteriorate the fabric of your breeches. Indeed, it is not uncommon to spot fibers from your clothes that came loose during the drying cycle when cleaning the dryer filter.
IRONING YOUR RIDING BREECHES?
Ironing is not a useful step in caring for your riding breeches. However, if you wish, you can iron them by turning them inside out so as not to damage the fabric and technical details such as grips. When ironing, to avoid direct contact of technical areas with a hot iron: add a cloth between the iron and the breeches. This will reduce the risk of damaging these fragile parts.
Through this careful care, you will preserve the technical properties of your riding breeches and considerably extend their lifespan. If despite this advice you are still struggling, contact us via our contact form or directly by phone: +33 4 99 54 63 52
