Julien Épaillard

With 76 victories in international competitions in 2022, he is currently world number 2 and number 1 in France. Impressive in his sense of rhythm and trajectory, Julien is a rare phenomenon in the world of top-level equestrianism.

Why this rider?

Julien Épaillard joined Team Horse Pilot in January 2023. A collaboration with passion for sport as the motto, because in addition to being one of the best riders in the world, Julien is a motocross enthusiast. He is a rider with an exceptional mentality, humble and discreet, who has built his own system through a strategic vision of equestrianism. Both for his sporting and human qualities, Horse Pilot is proud to be able to accompany him in his daily life as a high-level athlete.

Favorite piece

A ritual?

Generally, I like to work my horses 1 hour before the event to do a little muscle warm-up. Then they go back to the box. I also like to put my left boot on first!

A mantra?

Goals?

Today, I am qualified for the World Cup Final. I don't know yet which horse I will ride in this event but I'm lucky to have several good horses. It will be between Donatello, Chana and Dubai who has never participated in a World Cup before. If I feel good about it, she may do her first World Cup in Bordeaux.

Then, this year, there is the European Championship. Even if it's still far away, I would like to be part of the team.

In the slightly longer term, we are trying to work towards Paris 2024.
