Palmarès Paul Kennedy|Cavalier équitation|Expertise équestre|Horse Pilot

This month, we focus on the younger generation and meet Paul Kennedy, a young Irish ambassador who has all the makings of a great rider.

HP: How and when did you start riding?

PK: I have always ridden horses for as long as I can remember. It’s in my blood—my family is passionate about horses. We have a stud farm in Ireland where our goal is to breed and produce high-level sport horses.

HP: Tell us about your career.

PK: My show jumping career began when I met Cartown Dangermouse, a mare I started riding at age 16. After that, I began taking the sport more seriously. We learned everything together, and thanks to her, I had the opportunity to compete at some of the world’s top events. We had the honor of representing our country in 8 Nations Cups, and one of my highlights was winning the prestigious 4* Grand Prix at Bolesworth in 2018.

I’ve been fortunate to have the support of my family from the beginning of my career, as well as extraordinary owners and, of course, all the other riders on the circuit. I must say that Cameron Hanley and the Quigley family have been a great source of inspiration and have helped me a lot.

HP: What are your goals?

PK: My main goal is to continue training and improving. I want to reach the peak of my abilities and acquire the riding skills of the best riders and trainers. Ultimately, I would like to open my own stable and produce high-quality horses to compete at the highest level…

HP: Tell us your story with Horse Pilot?

PK: I got closer to the brand during the CSI of Hickstead this summer. I had already noticed it growing in popularity at every competition, and I was really excited to meet the team and learn more about their products. I chose Horse Pilot primarily for the comfort of the fabrics. It’s also a very modern brand that stands out and allows us to look professional and polished, which is important in competitions, especially when meeting potential clients or horse owners.

HP: Talk to us about the evolution of riding clothes in Ireland, a country that loves tradition. How does the younger generation view this change?

PK: It’s interesting to see how riding apparel style has changed recently. In the past, fabrics were outdated and uncomfortable. Thanks to innovative brands like Horse Pilot, clothing has become much lighter and better suited to our sport.

This change meets the expectations of young riders much better. Clothes are now better fitted, much more modern, and stylish. It’s not just about comfort—it’s also important to be elegant and presentable, especially in front of potential investors, sponsors, or clients. I’m very fortunate to have Horse Pilot’s support to help me achieve that!

HP: What is your favorite Horse Pilot product and why?

PK: My favorite Horse Pilot products are the men’s competition breeches. It’s so hard to find beautiful pants that are well-tailored and not too tight!

They fit perfectly, and the materials used are really comfortable. They also provide great grip in the saddle and are very durable.

I am truly happy that Horse Pilot trusts me! It’s always exciting to work with an innovative company that listens to athletes and continually strives to improve!
