30 HORSES RUNNING FREE

100 KMS AND 8100 M OF ELEVATION GAIN THROUGH THE PYRENEES

A BREATHTAKING AND IMPRESSIVE NATURE

For 3 days, Hanna, Juan and Laura accompanied 30 Mérens horses from the high plateaus of the Pyrenees to the milder valleys.

Gaining the horses' trust

After a trek on foot of over 1000 m of positive elevation gain, we find the horses at the Col de Cassaings. We need to gain their trust before being able to share with them the journey ahead, namely 100 kms and over 6000 m of cumulative elevation gain over the next 3 days. We reach the Cirque de Campuls for a first night under canvas... and in the rain.

Long hours follow that make us rediscover horses far from the arenas, in conditions that push us out of our comfort zone, along tiny trails, on which we cross the mountains, between mists, wind, bivouacs and ferns, until we reach the calm of the Bispou summer pasture.

A return to the roots of our passion

Through these landscapes, we were confronted with nature, the herd and the elements that here we do not control.

Beyond the encounter with the herd running free, it is our deep relationship with horses that is at stake.
