HOW TO REMOVE ODOURS FROM YOUR RIDING CLOTHES?
As explained previously, garments closest to the body are those most subject to odours related to perspiration. Odours can persist even after washing. To address this, there are techniques to remove unpleasant odours from your clothes. Here is a selection of the best techniques:
- Technique 1: Apply Marseille soap and scrub with a soft brush before washing your garment in the machine.
- Technique 2: Apply a mixture of 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda and a little water to the area, leave to dry and run the machine.
- Technique 3: Immerse your polo shirt or t-shirt in a basin filled with ¼ white vinegar mixed with ¾ water and leave to work for a few minutes then wash your garment in the machine.
Note that these techniques are also very useful for removing stains from your riding clothes.
HOW TO REMOVE STAINS FROM YOUR RIDING POLO SHIRTS, T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS?
In the case of superficial stains on your tops, our detergent created for regular care of riding clothes, the apparel wash for technical garments, removes superficial stains. In case of more stubborn stains, use a stain remover suitable for the type of stain that you can find in supermarkets.
For product application, be careful not to rub the stain but to dab the garment with the product. Finally, follow the instructions on the bottle and allow the product to work without exceeding the recommended times.
HOW TO GET A WHITE POLO SHIRT WHITE AGAIN?
Removing a stain from a coloured polo shirt is one thing, but removing a stain from a white polo shirt is another, especially in the case of perspiration marks. You may wonder how to remove these perspiration marks on the collar in particular and whether it's possible to get your white polo shirt white again?
It's indeed not the easiest, but there are several methods in addition to using a stain remover designed for this purpose. Among the best techniques, here is a selection:
- Lemon juice is useful for all types of stains. You need to squeeze the lemon, rub it gently on the stain and leave to work for 45 minutes then put the garment in the machine.
- Bicarbonate of soda is very effective for collars. To be used sparingly, sprinkle the collar of your previously moistened shirt with bicarbonate of soda. Rub gently. Rinse everything with an equal mixture of white vinegar and water.
STEP 3: A WASH CYCLE SUITED TO YOUR GARMENT'S FABRIC
As explained previously, each fabric is different and requires a wash and drying programme suited to its technical properties.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT PRODUCTS FOR WASHING YOUR RIDING POLO SHIRTS, T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS
Generally speaking, we advise you to use our special detergent for technical garments developed to preserve their properties. Alternatively, use a mild or organic detergent, absolutely avoiding fabric softener to preserve the product over time. Indeed, the silicones present in these products corrode adhesives, damage technical treatments, breathability and deteriorate product membranes. Over time, materials would lose their effectiveness, particularly polyester. For a first wash, we recommend adding a colour-catcher sheet. Finally, use neither bleach nor detergent.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT PROGRAMME AND TEMPERATURE FOR WASHING YOUR RIDING POLO SHIRTS, T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS
For your cotton t-shirts, polo shirts and sweatshirts, we recommend machine washing up to 30°C on a cotton cycle with similar colours. And for Team Shirts and Team Sweatshirts, it's advisable to wash these garments inside out to preserve the logo.
For garments composed largely of polyester and/or polyamide, it's advisable to machine wash them at 30°C, to maintain a low-temperature wash. Indeed, hand washing will better preserve your garment. These delicate fibres must not be put in the tumble dryer as the spinning risks deteriorating the fabric.
Elastane materials are washable at a maximum of 30°C and must absolutely not go in the tumble dryer. However, you can iron this synthetic material using the delicate setting on the iron.
Finally, avoid drying your clothes on a hanger which could deform them and favour air-drying flat or hung from the bottom.
